Basic Menu Commands
- Project
- New
- Clears the VTBuilder workspace to begin new project.
- Open Project...
- Opens a previously saved VTBuilder Project.
- Save Project
- Saves Project containing info on all layers as a vtb
(VTBuilder Project File).
- Exit
- Edit
- Delete
- If the current layer has some elements selected, they are
deleted. Otherwise, the current layer is deleted, after you are
asked to confirm.
- Deselect All
- Deselects all selected elements in the current layer (eg. all
roads in a road layer).
- Invert Selection
- Toggles the selection state of all elements in to current layer.
- Crossing Selection
- This option affects interactive selection of elements. When
true, any part of an element inside the selection box will
selected. When false, only elements entirely within the
selection box are selected.
- Layer
- New Layer
- Creates a blank layer of selected type.
- Open Layer
- Opens any type of layer (e.g. Road, Building, Water) and adds it
to the current project.
- Save Layer
- Save Layer As...
- Save selected layer as a binary file (e.g. roads as RMF, buildings
as BCF), to be read in by the
Enviro program.
- Import Data
- Creates a new layer by importing data from any known file
format. You can also simply drag-and-drop files into the VTBuilder
window. Multiple files can be imported at once by dragging over a
group of icons.
- Layer Properties
- Will display some properties of the current layer. Not all
layer types will have properties to display.
- Offset Coordinates
- Shifts all the data in the current layer by a specified
amount. This is useful to manually aligning layers which
differ by a fixed horizontal offset.
- Flatten Layers
- This will merge ("flatten") all layers of the currently selected layer
type into a single layer.
- Convert Projection
- Converts the geographic projection of all loaded layers to
a new projection
- Set Projection
- Changes the currently assumed projection, without
converting any coordinates. Use this if you know that the
current projection (as displayed in the Status Bar) is incorrect,
and you wish to correct it.
- View
- Toolbar
- Toggles display of the Toolbar.
- Status Bar
- Toggles display of the Status Bar.
- Current Layer Visible
- Toggles the visibility of the current layer. This is useful
to hide layers, for easier editing or faster redraw.
- Zoom In / Out
- Zooms in/out by about 40%.
- Zoom All
- Centers your view on the currently loaded terrains (but doesn't
yet change the level of Zoom)
- Zoom to Full Res (1:1)
- If the current terrain is grid data (Elevation or Image), sets the
view to match (1 pixel per grid point)
- Magnifier
- Allows you to zoom the view into a specified rectangle.
- Pan
- Allows you to pan the view by dragging the first mouse
button. You can also drag with the middle mouse button, if you have
one, to pan at any time.
- Obtain Distance
- Click and drag to measure horizontal distance and offset between
any two points.
- Set Export Area
- Allows you to set the area which is used to extract and export
data (currently only used for Elevation).
- World Map
- Show UTM Boundaries
- If you are using data in a geographic projection, this will toggle
the display of the boundaries of the UTM coordinate zones.
- Show minutes and seconds
- If you are using data in a geographic projection, this will toggle
the display of minutes and seconds of latitude-longitude.
- Show Terrain Elevation
- Turn this off to show each elevation layer as a simple box, which saves a
lot of memory and time.
- Artificial Shading
- Produces much more attractive images, but adds a little time to
load each file.
- Hide Unknown Areas
